King Charles and Prince William reportedly exploded in “torrents of profanity” after Donald Trump made a cross-Atlantic jibe over Kate Middleton’s topless scandal.
According to the latest Royals biography, to be released next week, the then-Prince Charles and Prince William couldn’t contain themselves after Trump’s social media comments on Princess Kate’s holiday drama in 2012.
Kate, the then-Duchess of Cambridge, was infamously snapped that year sunbathing topless on private property in France while on holiday with husband Prince William.
The risque pics were published in the French tabloid Closer, eliciting titillation and outcry in equal measure, the New York Post reports.
“Kate Middleton is great – but she shouldn’t be sunbathing in the nude – only herself to blame,” Trump had tweeted at the time.
“Who wouldn’t take Kate’s picture and make lots of money if she does the nude sunbathing thing? Come on Kate!”
According to excerpts from the biography The King: The Life of Charles III by Christopher Andersen, Trump’s jibe dig “resulted in what one Clarence House butler referred to as ‘torrents of profanity’ from both Prince Charles and his sons.”

Several years later in 2019, Charles, was then said to be allegedly “disappointed” when Trump referred to him in a tweet as the “Prince of Whales,”
Andersen, who also authored The Day Diana Died, wrote that Trump’s claim he “could have ‘nailed [Princess Diana] if I wanted to,’ but only if she passed an HIV test” had also put the 45th US President off-side with Charles and Buckingham Palace.
When then-President Trump was reportedly to have said there were “very fine people on both sides” after the 2017 white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince Harry “burned up the phone lines between Clarence House and Kensington Palace” attempting to “discourage” Trump’s planned visit to the UK, according to reports.
In the end, Trump’s trip did not take place.
“Throughout 2017 and into 2018, Britons seemed nearly as fascinated with the tweet-storming Trump as their American cousins. The royal family was no exception,” Andersen writes.
“At every opportunity, including Prince Harry’s wedding reception, Charles took his wealthy and influential American friends aside and gently prodded them for information.”
Trump further upset Prince Harry as his presidential term came to the end, when he claimed the Royal was “whipped” by his wife Meghan Markle.
Trump also wished Harry: “good luck, he’s going to need it”.
The relationship between leading figures on east side of the Atlantic Ocean, could make very interesting viewing over the next two years and even beyond, with Trump widely tipped to announce a third run at the White House in coming days, after the US midterm elections.
MEGHAN MARKLE ‘PUTS OUT PODCAST REQUEST FOR KATE MIDDELTON
Meghan Markle reportedly has a new podcast guest firmly in her sights – her sister-in-law, Kate Middleton.
According to UK reports, Markle asked the new Princess of Wales to be a guest on her Archetype podcast while she was in the UK in the wake of the Queen’s death in September.
“While [Meghan] was over here, staying in Windsor at their [Frogmore] cottage, she put out a request to the Princess of Wales, according to that good source, to appear on a forthcoming episode of Archetypes,” royal expert Neil Sean claimed during a recent episode on his YouTube channel.
“Apparently she could have the whole episode to herself, how generous, and, as ever, we have to say allegedly. It, kind of, makes sense if you think.
“In Meghan’s eyes, this is because she based it along the idea of two Duchesses, as they then were at that point, and of course talking about how difficult it is to run a family, work-life [and] work balance.”
It comes amid reports King Charles is prepared to strip the Sussexes of their titles if their Netflix show and bombshell memoir is “too damaging” to the royal family, an expert claims. The King would also consider extending such a ban to the couple’s children Archie, three, and Lilibet, one.
Markle’s relationship is said to be frosty with Kate, particularly since she told Oprah Winfrey in a 2021 interview that the Princess of Wales had made her cry during a disagreement over Princess Charlotte’s flower girl outfit during the Sussexes’ 2018 wedding.
Despite the ongoing tension, Mr Sean claimed that Markle’s team reportedly felt it was a “good move” to get Middleton on the podcast, particularly “ratings-wise”.
“We’re not quite sure how this was relayed to the beautiful Princess of Wales, but according to Meghan, she felt they were progressing.
“If you recall back with that particular interview, she claimed that she was willing to forgive and move forward.”
He noted that Markle, and the team at Spotify, are “yet to hear back”, although the Duchess of Sussex “understands maybe Catherine could even fit it in when she returns over to the United States later this month for Earthshot [Prize].”
In each episode, which is released weekly, the Duchess of Sussex is joined by a different female guest to “explore and subvert the labels that try to hold women back”.
She has featured high-powered women such as Serena Williams, Mariah Carey, Sophie Trudeau and Mindy Kaling.
