Kristin Cavallari is accusing her estranged husband, former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler, of blocking her from purchasing a new home amid their divorce.
The reality star of Very Cavallari, which streams on Foxtel, alleged in court documents obtained by E! News, that the former NFL quarterback told her “his lawyer was going to tell their business manager to not release the funds,” which she claims was his way of “punishing” her.

On Monday, the pair announced in a joint statement that they were separating after 10 years of marriage.
Although the couple has just revealed their split, the new documents reveal that Cavallari, 33, first began looking for a new home when their relationship got “so bad” in fall 2019. At the time, Cutler, 37, allegedly “never objected” to a potential move.
However, the couple tried to work on their marriage and the house-buying plans were put on hold.
In March, they “realised the attempt to reconcile was not working and knew a divorce was inevitable.” At that time, Cavallari reportedly decided to begin house hunting and allegedly kept in mind her soon-to-be ex-husband’s “lack of objection in November” when deciding to move forward with those plans.
The court documents show that Cavallari’s lawyer alleged that Cutler wanted his wife to agree to a proposed parenting plan that was “unfavourable to her” and “attempted to intimidate” her by blocking the funds to purchase a new home as a means to do so.
“Wife does not believe that it is in the best interest of either party or their minor children to reside in the same household,” the documents state. “Wife fears that if the parties are required to remain in the same residence, it would be an unhealthy environment, causing irreparable harm to their minor children.”
Cavallari has also accused Cutler of making “inappropriate statements to and about Wife and attempts to draw her into an argument in front of their minor children.”
Cavallari has reportedly requested primary physical custody of the couple’s three children — sons Camden, 7, and Jaxon, 5, and 4-year-old daughter Saylor — with Cutler having visitation rights. Cutler is requesting joint custody. She is also seeking child support and wants Cutler to pay for their children’s health insurance.
The Uncommon James founder claimed her ex was “guilty of such inappropriate marital conduct as renders further cohabitation unsafe and improper.”
Cavallari’s rep declined to comment. Cutler’s rep did not immediately return a request for comment.
