An insider has told The Mirror that King Charles may have an interview with BBC to speak out about his son Prince Harry’s claims and allegations about the Royal Family.
The newspaper also reported that plans for the BBC to cover the Coronation “are already up and running” and it will also include “the profile of the monarch.”
The insider added: “It is not the done thing to avoid subjects in interviews, so it makes matters tricky. Even one small comment on Harry and Meghan would make worldwide news.
“It could also prompt a response from Harry, which would be unpredictable, like so much. Everything is very delicate.”
It comes as The Sun reported King Charles has reportedly asked the Archbishop of Canterbury to broker a deal to allow Prince Harry to attend his coronation on May 6, but has met resistance from Prince William, according to British media reports.
The King allegedly wants Justin Welby to strike an agreement between the warring brothers that would allow Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle to attend the Westminster Abbey ceremony, the Mail on Sunday reports.
The shock development comes after the publication of Prince Harry’s explosive tell-all memoir Spare, which featured multiple attacks on senior royals including Prince William and his wife Catherine, Princess of Wales.
According to the Mail on Sunday, King Charles believes that Prince Harry’s absence at the coronation would be a greater distraction than if he attends.
Prince William is reportedly concerned that this estranged younger brother will use the coronation to stage a harmful “stunt” that would overshadow the historic event.
It is reported that Prince Harry could be guaranteed a high-profile seating position or an assurance that he will be able to keep his titles.
Mr Welby, who will officiate at the ceremony at Westminster Abbey, was previously dragged into the Sussexes’ soap opera when Ms Markle claimed in the pair’s infamous Oprah Winfrey interview that he had secretly married them before their official wedding in 2018.
Mr Welby was then forced to clarify that the ceremony broadcast to millions around the world was the legal marriage.
