Kelly Osbourne says 2021 has been “the hardest year” of her life after relapsing on alcohol in April following being sober for almost four years.
The former Fashion Police star, 37, made the confession via Instagram Stories on Tuesday, revealing she had been contacted to comment on a story about her body changing as she dealt with getting back on track, the New York Post reported.
“I was … utterly broken,” she wrote of her struggles over the past year.
“I am still putting myself back together again.
“I am happy. I am healthy. That’s all that should matter.”
The message was in response to a recent email Osbourne received from the National Enquirer.
As seen in a screenshot shared to her Instagram Stories, the publication allegedly reached out to Osbourne for comment on an insensitive story it was planning to run.
It claimed she put on “a tremendous amount of weight after slimming down significantly earlier this year” and has been “dealing with the stress of her relapse by eating”.
The end of the email asked Osbourne to reply directly if she wished to comment, and to include editor-in-chief Dan Dolan.
“This is what I have to deal with on a daily basis,” Osbourne said. “Feel free to email Dan and tell him what you think about them fat shaming me.”
Osbourne recently celebrated five months of sobriety on her 37th birthday last month.
“I am filled with so much gratitude – it’s almost overwhelming!” she wrote beneath a selfie holding a birthday cake.
Last year, the reality star opened up about her weight-loss procedure while appearing on the Hollywood Raw with Dax Holt and Adam Glyn podcast last year, after fans were shocked by photos of her drastic weight loss.
“I had surgery; I don’t give a f**k what anyone has to say,” she said.
“I did it, I’m proud of it, they can suck sh*t. I did the gastric sleeve. All it does is change the shape of your stomach. I got that almost two years ago. I will never ever ever lie about it ever. It is the best thing I have ever done.”
She continued: “I want to be very clear about this kind of surgery I had. I didn’t have a gastric bypass.
“The kind of surgery I had … if you don’t work out and you don’t eat right, you gain weight. All it does is move you in the right direction,” she said.
Dolan did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
