The Spice Girls could reunite for a blockbuster concert to mark the coronation of King Charles.
The pop icons — including Victoria Beckham — will take to the stage as a five-piece for a huge royal concert that will be a part of an epic three-day celebration in May, according to the British press.
Sources said the royal organisers are “super keen” to bring in the girl group, with the 90s band icon having met King Charles several times throughout their career.
If it goes ahead, it will be the first time the Spice Girls have performed as a five-piece since the 2012 Olympics closing ceremony.
King Charles’ three day coronation spectacle will take place between Saturday, May 6 and Monday, May 8.
“Royal organisers are super keen to secure Britain’s biggest girl band and the Spice Girls are seriously pondering a return to the stage as a five-piece for such a historical event,” a source told The Sun.
“Certainly the reality is that the coronation is as special as The Olympics – a one-off celebration and unique performance.”
“There is a general sense that a reunion could happen for something this significant. Mel B and Mel C are the ring leaders in the group, trying to make it happen.”
Last week, Mel C opened up on her disappointment at the Spice Girls not being able to perform at the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee concert in June last year.
“You know what, we would have loved to be there but it was just one of those situations where it was impossible,” she said.
“With us girls, there is so much that we would like to do but there are four, five, people involved with families and other commitments and responsibilities. So, I think that was something that we had to miss.
“We weren’t happy about having to miss it, but yeah, sometimes things don’t work out.”
WILLIAM AND KATE ‘UNFAZED’ BY HARRY’S MEMOIR DRAMA
If you think the Prince and Princess of Wales are cooly and calmly carrying on with their royal duties and shaking off the bombshells and gossip released by Prince Harry’s memoir and its media storm, you might be right.
Body language expert Darren Stanton told Marie Claire magazine that Prince William and Kate Middleton seem “unfazed” by the drama caused by the oversharing memoir, Spare.
The Prince and Princess of Wales recently visited the Foodshare food bank in Windsor where they helped out by packing food.
Mr Stanton said: “Kate and William seem completely unfazed by the drama surrounding Prince Harry.
“I feel that whatever thoughts and emotions they have regarding the current situation, they are doing their best to remain professional and have refrained from showing any leakage gestures.
“I cannot see any signs of deception or masking negative emotions towards Prince Harry. Instead, they appear completely at ease with each other.
“There is nothing to suggest it isn’t normal business as usual. Both royals seem to be completely comfortable in each other’s proximal zones and intimate space.
“During testing times, some couples often show small signs of discomfort or nerves; however William and Kate are continuing to stand united against Harry’s actions.”
It comes as the Princess of Wales shared an open letter ahead of the launch of a major new awareness raising campaign.
The campaign will highlight the critical importance the first five years of our lives have on shaping the adults we become.
The letter reads: “During our very early childhood, our brains develop at an amazing rate – faster than any other time of our lives.
Our experiences, relationships, and surroundings at that young age, shape the rest of our lives.
It is a time where we lay the foundations and building blocks for life. It is when we learn to understand ourselves, understand others and understand the world in which we live.
But as a society, we currently spend much more of our time and energy on later life. I am absolutely determined that this long-term campaign is going to change that.’’
Kensington Palace geared up for the campaign launch by asking “What Shapes Us?” on their Instagram channel, alongside a video showing Kate turning the pages of a photograph album.
The Princess launched the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood in June 2021 to become the hub for driving her work in this area.
In 2020, she commissioned a major research study to find out what people across the UK think about the under fives.
The Princess has been joined by a team of experts “spanning science, research, policy making and frontline practice as well as an exciting group of well-known faces from music, sport and television.”
WILLIAM FEELS HARRY IS ‘LOST CAUSE’
Meanwhile, when speaking on his YouTube channel, a royals reporter for NBC and Access Hollywood said that a close source to Prince William told him that he has given up on trying to amend things with Prince Harry.
Neil Sean said: “According to a very good source, William is feeling pragmatic about the entire issue with his brother. He feels that he has done everything in his power, his absolute best, to advise and guide Harry.
“Harry decided to take his own advice and now Prince William has told a very good source that he is resigned to the fact that he has lost his younger brother.
“This is about mistrust. Even if he said let’s forgive and forget, William feels there will always be a nagging feeling that if he lets Harry in, their conversations could be made public down the line.
“William said that, while he misses him, he is focused on raising his three children with his wife Catherine. This could change in the future but it goes to show where the brothers are right now. He feels Harry is a lost cause.”
