Former high-profile escort Samantha X, whose name is Amanda Goff, has revealed she has been diagnosed with a heart condition called nonsustained ventricular tachycardia (NSVT).
“It’s serious, it’s life threatening & it’s treatable,” she wrote on Instagram, alongside a photo of her in hospital with wires attached to her chest.
“It’s all happened very fast - diagnosed Friday, in surgery Monday. NEVER ignore any symptoms. Mine were feeling faint & almost blacking out after exercise.”
Ms Goff said she was in St Vincent’s hospital and that NSVT is the cause of sudden death and cardiac arrests.
“I am blessed I found this out before, not after. My body knew something wasn’t right, so I got it checked out. If there is anything you can take from this is never ignore what your body is telling you,” she continued.
“Ladies - PLS don’t dismiss feelling faint as hormones or period etc etc... If it keeps happeing, get it checked out NOW.”
The former journalist went on to say she is “not sure” what treatment she will undergo going forwards but that she would be able to lead a completely normal life - “worst case scenario a defibrillator, best case meds”.
She thanked her doctors at NSW Cardiology and St Vincent’s Clinic.
Ms Goff rose to fame as the country’s most high-profile sex worker, Samantha X, in 2014.
After being diagnosed with bipolar II disorder, she announced she was leaving behind her escort days in 2022.
