MIRANDA Kerr says she “feels sorry for her family” and that they were “naive” to give an interview to ABC1 in which they lamented the loss of their daughter to the LA celebrity scene.

In this week’s Sunday Style magazine the Aussie model opens up about her relationship with her parents and addresses the comments they made in the documentary which aired in February this year.

“That was kind of done without me knowing about it, and it’s funny because I’d invited them over many times throughout the year and they’d been too busy,” Kerr says of the interview. “My dad and my brother work for me, and my mum has her own organic line now, and I think the media spun that on them — they weren’t really trying to do anything, they’re just a little naive, unfortunately.”

The 31-year-old goes on to say that she feels sorry for her family because “they got sucked into a situation and things get edited”.

“I was like, ‘Don’t do it! Don’t do it!’ And of course they love and miss their daughter and sister, just like I love and miss them. I’ll be seeing them soon, which will be really good.”

In the last year Kerr has gone from Aussie darling to public enemy number one. Her separation from Orlando Bloom, her husband of three years and father of three-year-old Flynn, started a barrage of stories suggesting she was dating her friend Erica Baxter’s ex-husband James Packer. “Not true,” says Kerr, “I’m not in a relationship with anyone”. Then there were the rumours that she was released from her contract with David Jones due to her being difficult to work with. This is something Kerr refutes saying the career change was a conscious decision on her behalf.

“I’m quite a strong woman. I’m quite a dominant woman by nature, but something I’ve learnt since having my son is to switch off that side of myself when I get home. Because it’s very masculine to be so aggressive with work, when I walk into my house, I switch into the feminine side and take off my shoes and make sure I light the candles and have a nice setting around me. It’s nurturing myself in a way I wouldn’t have necessarily done before.”

She’s also been criticised for getting too saucy in interviews after she told GQ magazine about her sexual curiosity in women and that she had experienced an orgasm on a flight.

“To be honest I don’t really buy into it too much,” she declares. “At the end of the day, if I’m happy and healthy, and my son is happy and healthy, and I’m doing what I like, then if people like it, great. If they don’t, it’s really no skin off my back,” she says.
