Tones and I stuns on glam cover for relaunched Cosmopolitan Australia magazine

It’s Tones and I as you rarely see her, with the Aussie muso clad in pink for the much-hyped relaunch of Cosmopolitan mag.

It’s Tones and I as we’ve rarely seen her with the Australian star fronting the cover clad in pink for the newly relaunched Cosmopolitan Australia magazine.

The local musician, real name Toni Watson, is the debut August/September cover star for the returning glossy, which is celebrating its first issue back after it was axed more than six years ago.

And they’ve certainly launched with a bang, as Tones cuts a vastly different figure to when she first shot to notoriety with the release of her earworm charttopper Dance Monkey in 2019, with the superstar sporting a fabulous pink teddy coat with matching stockings and boots, teamed with hot pink lipstick and her blonde hair styled into a glam blow wave.

In the interview, Tones addressed recent commentary about her changing look as the singer promotes her deeply personal, second studio album Beautifully Ordinary.

“I’ve lost weight, so apparently that’s the biggest thing that’s ever happened to me in my life,” Tones offered, sarcastically.

“Everything is up for discussion. My body shape, my music, my livelihood, my relationship. I wish I could say that I could be someone where that doesn’t affect me. But it does. Especially when like, my nanna, my family – they can see everything.”

Despite initially hitting the scene in more edgy clothing, Tones said her recent move to embrace a more feminine style has long been the aesthetic she relates to.

“I’m not a tomboy, I’m a girly girl and I always have been. But I didn’t feel comfortable in myself and my body, so I covered myself up,” the singer said.

Meanwhile, it was announced in April Cosmopolitan was making a triumphant return to the Australian media market.

The renowned entertainment and lifestyle glossy is now led by Sydney publisher Katarina Kroslakova via her publishing house KK Press, in collaboration with New York-based publishing company Hearst Magazines International.

They will publish six issues of Cosmo per year.

Cosmopolitan, which first launched in Australia more than four decades ago, was deemed commercially unviable by its previous publisher Bauer Media (now known as Are Media) in 2018, with its final issue published in December of that year.

Hearst Magazines senior vice president of editorial Kim St. Clair Bodden said the glossy mag’s return was “an exciting next chapter” for the brand.

Its revival comes after Elle Australia returned to stands in March after a four-year hiatus.

Cosmopolitan Australia’s debut issue will available wherever you buy magazines from Monday, August 12.
