Aussie TV personality Todd McKenney has gone on a social media rampage, claiming he feels “betrayed” after a cherished rug was stolen from his home while he was away.
On Monday, the 59-year-old revealed on social media that someone broke into his house and stole his New Zealand wool and silk rug — leaving everything else untouched.
“This rug was recently stolen from my house while I was in Melbourne, “ he wrote on Instagram.
“It’s a seriously big rug and not easy to move so I’m assuming it’s been taken by a thief who knew I was away for a week.
McKenney hinted the culprit may be someone he knows, adding “I can’t believe someone I know who has access to my house would do this, but … who knows?”
“It’s only a rug but it’s the betrayal I can’t get out of my head around.”
The rug was due to be auctioned with an estimated value of $1,500 to $2,500, and has been removed from the Lawson’s website after it was reported stolen.
The former Dancing With the Stars judge also made a public plea for help, asking his followers to keep an eye out for the distinctive patterned piece, which he purchased from Designer Rugs.
McKenney has been contacted for comment.
