Lady Gaga has broken her silence on her Oscars duet with Bradley Cooper, revealing their sexually-charged performance was a meticulously pre-planned act.
Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Gaga laughed off speculation she and Cooper were romantically involved after social media exploded with rumours following the awards show.
The co-stars had sat close on a piano stool and embraced each other as they sang, with Cooper’s girlfriend Irina Shayk sitting in the audience watching.
“Yes, people saw love and guess what? That’s what we wanted you to see,” Gaga told Kimmel, also labelling social media “the toilet of the internet”.
Gaga explained that Cooper, who directed A Star Is Born, had planned and choreographed every moment of their Oscars duet, including the camera angles which captured a lingering look between the pair when the song finished.

“(Shallow) is a love song, A Star Is Born is a love story,” Gaga said. “It was so important to both of us that we were connected the entire time … When you’re singing love songs, that’s what you want people to feel.”
As Kimmel continued to press Gaga on the rumours about her and Cooper, the Poker Face hit maker pointed out she previously had her “arms wrapped around” singing partner Tony Bennett while they were on tour.
“I’m an artist and I guess (Cooper and I) did a good job … fooled ya!” Gaga said with a laugh.
Gaga’s interview comes as a Page Six report claims A-list circles won’t stop speculating about the A Star Is Born pair’s performance.
“Hollywood is buzzing that Gaga fell for Bradley during preproduction and filming, creating the intense emotional energy you see on-screen and at the Oscars,” a source told the publication.
