What Bradley Cooper told Lady Gaga before their Oscars performance

Theirs was the performance of the Oscars, and Lady Gaga has revealed what Bradley Cooper told her to make it so special.

Lady Gaga’s uplifting message to Australia

Lady Gaga has shared a touching message to her Australian fans as she celebrates her Oscar win for Shallow.

Answering questions after winning for best original song, Gaga told news.com.au she hoped her Australian fans would “feel a joy” at this weekend’s Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras in Sydney. You can watch her full answer in the video above.

“What I would like to say is: one of the hardest things in life is to be brave enough to be yourself,” she said.

“I wish to everyone that is going to that celebration to feel a joy inside of them. That’s actually what Bradley said to me yesterday right before we did our last rehearsal for this performance of Shallow.

He said, ‘Let’s just drop a little bit of joy.’ And I said, ‘Okay’. And turns out, joy did a whole lot for me … I hope that everyone there in Sydney feels so much joy and celebrates all sexual identities.”

Gaga, who is a longtime advocate for the LGBTIQ community, also pressed the need for categories at award shows to be more inclusive.

“I also have a true dream in our future as we evolve as humanity that these award shows will not be male and female but that we include everyone,” she said.

Gaga and her A Star Is Born co-star Bradley Cooper stole the show at this year’s Oscars thanks to a chemistry-filled performance of Shallow.

Weeping as she accepted her award for Best Original Song, Gaga said she wouldn’t have been able to perform Shallow with anyone other than Cooper.

“Bradley: There is not a single person on the planet that could have sang this song with me but you. Thank you for believing in us,” she told her co-star, who sat beaming in the audience.
