JIMMY Kimmel nailed his opening monologue at the Oscars today — but among the rapid-fire jokes about everyone from Meryl Streep to Donald Trump was a quip we thought we’d heard before.
“Andrew Garfield lost 40 pounds, where is Andrew Garfield? You could barely even see him he got so thin. There he is. He lost 40 pounds for his role in the movie Silence,” Kimmel told the audience.
“It was an astonishing physical transformation that hasn’t been attempted since every actress in every role ever,” was the sarcastic punchline.
A cute quip — and one we’ve kinda heard before, back when Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were hosting the 2014 Golden Globe Awards:
“Matthew McConaughey did amazing work this year. For his role in Dallas Buyers Club he lost 45 pounds, or what actresses call ‘being in a movie’,” Fey said during their opening monologue.

The similarities didn’t go unnoticed:
Jimmy Kimmel's actress weight loss joke was great when Tina Fey and Amy Poehler did it in 2014. #Oscars2017
