Awarding-winning Australian chef Greg Malouf has sadly passed away

A beloved celebrity chef has passed away leaving the Aussie hospitality scene to mourn the heartbreaking loss.

Awarding-winning Australian chef Greg Malouf has passed away aged 64.

Mr Malouf was born in Melbourne and had often been credited with pioneering modern Middle Eastern cuisine in Australia.

Mr Malouf was a Micheline Star chef and was the head chef at several successful restaurants.

He also released several cookbooks, appeared on Aussie cooking shows like MasterChef, and garnered praise from critics throughout his incredible culinary career.

Former MasterChef Judge George Calombaris posted a loving tribute to the well-known chef on Saturday via Instagram.

“Along with so many today is a sad day for us all. We loss a giant of a human,” he wrote and then tagged Mr Malouf’s Instagram page.

“A beautiful man. Yes an amazing chef. I send love to his family and strength. I will miss the banter of all things Greek v Lebanese food. RIP great man. See you on the other side.”

Mr Calombaris’ post prompted an outpouring of love from people who knew Mr Malouf or were a fan.

“The chef that introduced me to preserved lemon. Blew my mind. Sad day indeed,” one wrote.

“So sad. I met him a couple times. True gentleman,” another wrote.

“The master of Middle Eastern cuisine, a beautiful man. Deepest condolences to his loved ones,” someone else wrote.

“What a legend,” one said.
