Katy Perry, KISS, Robbie Williams: there is no doubt the AFL has been aiming high with its pre-game grand final entertainment in recent years.
But, there are even bigger names that have been sounded out for the show.
Ross Stevenson, co-host of 3AW’s all conquering breakfast show, revealed on Friday that the Rolling Stones had been on the AFL wish list a couple of years ago, but the rumoured fee for what is really a giant corporate gig saw even the deep pocketed sporting body go looking elsewhere.
“A very senior source at the AFL told me they did ask the Stones … $20 million for four songs,” Stevenson recounted.
The approach to the legendary band was a couple of years ago.
The ageless rockers toured America in support of their new album, Hackney Diamonds, earlier this year.

Despite offering The Boss “the kitchen sink” he was not available.
