If anyone noticed a little awkward tension between Abbie Chatfield and Tony Armstrong when they co-hosted the TikTok awards this week, Saturday Confidential can reveal why.

The outspoken duo spent the night together after the Logies last year and tried to make a go of it, however the romance later fizzled.

Numerous sources have revealed the pair hit it off at the 2022 event, held at the Gold Coast, and while they attempted a relationship, it didn’t quite work out.

Armstrong has since moved on with musician Rona Glynn-McDonald, while bisexual media personality Chatfield, who touts herself “queen of monogamy” is believed to be single.

She has previously been linked to a number of high-profile suitors, including Konrad Bien-Stephens and Danny Clayton.

When asked about his “chemistry” with Chatfield while on the red carpet on Wednesday night, Armstrong gushed: “Abbie’s brilliant. I think she’s super smart.”

When Confidential reached out to Chatfield for comment yesterday, she chose not to respond.

Those in the crowd at the event, which took place at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion, and honoured popular creators, viral trends and the most talked-about moments of 2023, said the pair shared was unmissable tension.

“You could absolutely notice the chemistry between these two on stage,” one audience member said.

“It was palpable. The third host Kat Clark was a third wheel.

“It’s a shame it didn’t work out for them. They would have made a fun couple.”

The night was also shrouded in controversy, given the Chinese-owned app had been accused of fuelling anti-Semitism and unequally promoting pro-Palestinian content.

Plenty of #israel, #freepalestine and #hamas tags have taken place on TikTok since the October 7 terrorist attack, prompting many to believe the Israel-Hamas war may have been discussed at the star-studded event.

Questions were raised whether pro-Palestinian Chatfield and Armstrong would handle any chatter regarding the issue.

However those in attendance say none of this was discussed and the topics covered at the event were “light and bright”.
