Welcome to the Trading Day blog for Thursday, June 12. The ASX 200 index closed 0.3 per cent lower to 8565.10 points, with energy stocks strongest.

On Wall Street, the Dow Jones index closed flat, while the S&P 500 dipped 0.3 per cent and the technology-focused Nasdaq fell 0.5 per cent.

Cryptocurrency giant bitcoin was under $US108,000 at 5pm AEST.

The Aussie dollar was trading around US65.01c.
