Turnbull and Friends Want to Party Like it’s 1999
Twenty years after his referendum defeat, and following total silence on the subject when he was PM, Malcolm Turnbull wants to put us all through another republican boredom ordeal.
Twenty years after his referendum defeat, and following total silence on the subject when he was PM, Malcolm Turnbull wants to put us all through another republican boredom ordeal:
Speaking at an Australian Republic Movement event in Canberra on Tuesday night, Mr Turnbull said: “We cannot afford to have another referendum where we are fighting on two fronts”.
“What we need to have is a plebiscite, a public vote, which sets out a direct election model and a parliamentary appointment model,” Mr Turnbull said.
We don’t need to do any such thing.
“We need to thrash that out for months. Let people go up hill and down dale about it, have a good old barney, and come to a decision.”
We already did. Naturally, political mastermind and Turnbull curse Peter FitzSimons was present for this republican retro-fest. Remember his tip for Democrat presidential nominee?
My pound to your peanut says she will be the one standing for the Democratic Presidential nomination in 2020. This is a MUST-watch: https://t.co/7Y2JcF9OW2

Let’s see how the old squaw is travelling lately:
The latest national poll of the Democratic primary conducted by Quinnipiac shows support for Elizabeth Warren plummeting since October from 28 percent to 14 percent, while support for Biden and Buttigieg is ticking upward.
That collapse occurred before Warren announced a Medicare plan that would raise taxes by $20 trillion. One more mention from FitzSimons and she'll be in single digits.
