Release the Recording

Peter FitzSimons in 2010: “With my son, not long ago, I was playing chess and I was white and he was black and I was winning and he started crying. And I said, ‘Why?’ And he said, ‘Because this reminds me of what happened to the Aboriginal people.’”

You’d cry, too, if you were losing an intellectual contest against FitzSimons. Man, the embarrassment.

Since that particular virtue was signalled, it’s all gone backwards for Peter on the race relations front. He called a black man a gorilla, whitesplained racism to Tongan-descended Israel Folau, stopped inviting Stan Grant to parties and called for black NRL players to be sacked for refusing to obey white elitist commands.

And now he’s accused by Senator Jacinta Price of bullying her during an interview and suggesting she provided cover for racists:

Jacinta Nampijinpa Price has accused newspaper columnist and author Peter FitzSimons of being aggressive and rude to her during an interview, alleging he accused her of “giving racists a voice”.

The newly elected Country Liberal Party senator took to Facebook on Sunday to level the claims at FitzSimons after his interview with her ran in Nine’s Sun-Herald newspaper.

The social media post read in part: “I don’t know if I’d do another interview with the bloke again. He accused me of giving racists a voice but that wasn’t printed.”

FitzSimons then contacted Price numerous times via text, dismissing her version of events, threatening her with legal action and reminding her that the whole interview had been recorded, with Price’s approval.

To which Price now responds:

Coalition senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price has urged newspaper columnist Peter FitzSimons to publicly release audio of their recent phone interview, during which she claims she felt “bullied” by his “aggressive” manner towards her …

Asked on Tuesday whether she would be comfortable having her interview with FitzSimons made public, Senator Price said: “I’d be very happy with that. I felt quite uncomfortable, and I’d be quite happy for the public to listen to that interview themselves.”

Yes, Peter. Let the people hear. Be the Voice, as it were.
