Coronavirus infections are way down in Victoria, but the death toll is now beyond 500 – or 85 per cent of Australia’s COVID fatality total. And now they’re dealing with potentially toxic water.

Victoria’s daily coronavirus case number has dropped below 100, with 94 new infections recorded on Saturday alongside 18 deaths.

The last time the state recorded fewer than 100 cases was 55 days ago on July 5.

While the case numbers are heading in the right direction, the new fatalities bring Victoria to a morbid milestone: more than 500 lives lost in the state due to the virus.

When in Mexico, don't drink the water:

Another 11 Melbourne suburbs have been told to boil their household tap water before drinking it, after a wild storm caused untreated water into the supply.

There are now 99 suburbs and 250,000 homes impacted.

South East Water said the issue has been fixed but undisinfected water is still in some areas.

"As a precautionary measure, a boil water advisory is being issued until this issue is completely resolved," a spokesperson said.

Melbourne is Australia’s very own Action Park, minus any fun.
