The Liberal Democratic Party senator told Miranda Devine on her online radio show Miranda Live, the government’s new policy was just plain bad news.

The new legislation introduced to Parliament would potentially slap journalists with a 15 year jail sentence for receiving — not even publishing — classified material.

But Mr Leyonhjelm said he fought earlier laws surrounding reporting on Australian spy network ASIO for similar reasons.
“The road to hell is paved with good intentions,” he told Devine.
