FEW people living comfortably in Australia realise real slavery still exists around the world, Sydney’s Catholic Archbishop Anthony Fisher has warned, telling Miranda Devine he wants that to end.
“Sex slavery, people being bought and sold like chattel, is still very real in our world,” Archbishop Fisher told Devine on her new online radio show.
“But most Australians wouldn’t know there’s such a thing as modern slavery.”

He will use tomorrow’s feast day — held in honour of African slave St Josephine Bakhita — to kick off his historic campaign to stop slavery.
Archbishop Fisher has asked every Sydney parish to use the day to provide resources on how people can eliminate Australians good linked to modern slave labour.
