NEW Liberal senator Jim Molan has for the first time conceded it was “unwise” to have reposted videos from the controversial far-right group Britain First.
The former major general has come under fire from the Greens and Labor for sharing the “racist and bigoted“ videos — which purport to show Muslim violence in Europe, on Facebook in March last year.
LISTEN TO THE FULL INTERVIEW:
President Donald Trump has previously said he would apologise for retweeting one of the group’s videos, claiming he didn’t know who the group was.
Asked whether he regretted reporting the videos on Miranda Live, Mr Molan said: “I think it was unwise, unfortunately I can’t tell the future.”
“I can’t remember these videos until I was shown them again.
“If I did (share them) the motivation would have always been in relation to the violence and not in any way related to Islam.”
He said that he did not believe the videos were false and refused to apologise saying: “I don’t think I did anything wrong”.
