Two men charged after two separate armed robberies

Two men have been charged after two separate armed robberies on the Sunshine Coast and at Maryborough, with one involving a trolley and the other a machete.

TWO men have been charged after allegedly committing two separate armed robberies, one with a trolley and the other with a machete.

Police say a 19-year-old man and an 18-year-old man and another person rammed the glass doors of a bottle shop in Rainbow Beach at 12am on Thursday morning.

The trio allegedly smashed through the glass with a shopping trolley before putting bottles into the trolley and leaving the store on Rainbow Beach Road.

Then at 1:45am police believe the same trio went to a service station on intersection of the Bruce Highway and Quarry Road in Maryborough.

It was there where police allege they threatened the 31-year-old staff member with a machete while demanding cash and cigarettes.

They left with cash and cigarettes.

The staff member wasn’t injured.

Police then attended a residence on Hibiscus Street, Urangan, allegedly finding alcohol, cigarettes and cash.

Two men were arrested later at a residence on Beach Road.

Police investigations are continuing into these two incidents along with recent break and enter offences in Hervey Bay, Torbanlea, Craignish and River Heads.

The 19-year-old man from Urangan was charged with three counts of entering a premises to commit an indictable offence, two counts of entering a premises to commit an indictable offence by break, two counts of evading police, and one count each of entering a premises with intent to commit an indictable offence, receiving tainted property, armed robbery and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

An 18-year-old man from Pialba was charged with eight counts of entering a premise to commit an indictable offence by break, two counts of evading police, and one count each of entering a premise with intent to commit an indictable offence, receiving tainted property, armed robbery and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

They are both due to appear in Hervey Bay Magistrates Court on Friday.
