Detectives are investigating if foul play is behind the disappearance of Redlands mother of three Natarn Auld, 38, who has not been seen or heard from for over two weeks.
Crews this afternoon located a pair of underpants at the search location at Capalaba southeast of Brisbane.
They were placed in a police evidence bag to undergo forensic testing, and there was not yet any evidence to suggest they belonged to Ms Auld.
There have been no “proof of life” indicators, such as phone or social media use, or bank transactions, since Ms Auld was last spotted on December 14.
Detective Inspector Steve Hollands said there were currently no persons of interest in relation to Ms Auld’s disappearance, as police continue to keep an open mind.
“We are keeping our options open,” Insp Hollands said.
“There is still a possibility that she will be found alive and that’s really what we’re hoping for.
“(However) she missed Christmas… and there’s been no contact at all through social media, through her phone or through her bank accounts and we’re very, very worried that she’s been met with some foul play.”
SES crews and police divers have been involved in several searches on opposite sides of Brisbane as new information from Ms Auld’s associates and members of the public begins to trickle in.
Insp Hollands said the last sighting of Ms Auld was about 6.30am on December 14 at Nudgee Rd, Northgate, while police believed she was in the Capalaba area between about 3am and 4am that day.
CCTV footage captured Ms Auld buying food about 11.40pm on December 13 at the BP service station on Redland Bay Rd, Capalaba.
She was with a male friend and at the time was wearing long grey pants, a jumper, thongs and a gold necklace.
The man later drove Ms Auld home and left to go about his business, while only hours later, about 3am on December 14, Ms Auld would message a friend saying she was leaving to buy cigarette papers.
Police say the man who had last been with Ms Auld was forthcoming with information.
“He is not at this stage a person of interest,” Insp Hollands said.
“He’s given police an account of his movements and we’re happy with those movements.”
Insp Hollands said police were investigating if Ms Auld had any links to people who use drugs, including herself, however ruled out any potential link to organised crime.
Ms Auld’s three children, aged four, 15 and 21 are desperate for answers, as police continue to make an urgent appeal for public assistance.
“Each day goes by and (Ms Auld’s family) get more frantic and more desperate for information,” Insp Hollands said.
“We are appealing to anybody that may know of her whereabouts or may know what happened to her, and to any member of the public that might have dashcam footage and was on the road between Meldawn Place or Redland Bay Rd at Capalaba, and Nudgee Rd at Northgate anytime between 4am and probably 6.30 or 7am on the 14th of December to come forward.”
