Man sustains critical head injuries in alleged assault with chair handle
A man has been rushed to hospital in a critical condition after he was allegedly hit over the head with a wooden chair handle during an altercation.

A man is fighting for his life after he was allegedly hit over the head with a wooden chair handle in central Queensland overnight.
Police were called to a house on Mackay Street in Lakes Creek, Rockhampton after two men, who were known to each other, became involved in an altercation around 10pm.
Police will allege that a 35-year-old man used a wooden chair handle to hit the other man once in the head.
The victim, a 32-year-old Lakes Creek man, collapsed to the ground.
A witness in the house called emergency services, who treated the man for significant head injuries.
He was taken to Rockhampton Hospital in a critical condition.
The Lakes Creek man who allegedly hit the victim has been charged with one count of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm.
He will appear in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court today.
