A man accused of killing Booral father Lee Andrew Price overnight has had his charges read out in court.

Craig Anthony Leahey, 54, of Torquay, has been charged with murder, common assault and producing and supplying dangerous drugs.

He did not appear in court in person and his case was adjourned until December.

Mr Price’s family is mourning the loss of a beloved dad, husband and brother, following his horrific death in the coastal community on Wednesday night.

The 57-year-old Hervey Bay man was allegedly set upon by two men known to him about 9.30pm in Booral.

An alleged altercation occurred and Mr Price suffered serious head injuries and died at the scene, police said.

The two men were later located in a nearby Torquay home.

A 46-year-old Point Vernon man has also been charged with producing dangerous drugs and is scheduled to appear in Hervey Bay Magistrates Court on October 8.
Mr Price’s daughter Kelsie May De Luca said her dad was the most loving man she knew.

“He was an amazing dad, no matter what he would be there for me,” she told The Courier-Mail.

“He was a father, a grandad and also a beloved husband. He was also a brother and he’s going to be missed everyday.

“We all love him so much.”

A desperate plea was heard by a neighbour who lives near the Sandrabarbara Drive home where Mr Price was found dead.

The woman, who asked not to be named, said she heard a woman say “you’re hurting him”.

“She was saying, ‘get away from me’,” she said.

“The next minute I heard ‘he’s going to die, call an ambulance’.”

An ambulance arrived at the home soon after, the woman said.
