A man is fighting for life with critical wounds to his abdomen and back and a teen has been charged with attempted murder following an alleged stabbing south of Brisbane.
The incident unfolded about 2.30pm on Friday on Gregory St, not far from Acacia Ridge State School.
One person, a 19-year-old man, was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition with multiple injuries.
Inspector Karl Hahne said police were called to Gregory St at 2.30pm after neighbours saw two men fighting, with one man potentially armed with a knife.
“As a result police arrived here en masse and located one victim with stab wounds to his leg, lower abdomen and stomach,” Insp Hahne said.
“Those injuries were of a critical nature. The crews immediately attended and gave tactical first aid on scene.”
Insp Hahne said officers had located a large knife with a blade around 25cm-30cm long.
“(It was) curved in nature, potentially a hunting or a fishing type knife,” he said.
A 17-year-old Acacia Ridge boy has been charged with one count each of attempted murder, threatening violence, and possession of a knife in a public space.
He appeared before the Brisbane Childrens Court on Saturday where he did not apply and was remanded in custody and is now expected to appear before the Richlands Childrens Court on June 27.
On Saturday night, the victim remained in intensive care.
Acacia Ridge Criminal Investigation Branch are seeking the assistance of anyone that travelled along Gregory Street between 2 and 2.30pm on Friday May 17 to review their dashcam footage.
Anyone that may have seen or has footage of the 19-year-old victim walking along Gregory Street is encouraged to call Acacia Ridge police or Crime stoppers.
Friday’s incident happened just metres from the scene of a fatal stabbing that occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Asked whether police were investigating whether the stabbing was linked to the alleged murder days earlier, Insp Hahne said it was too early to comment.
“As you would understand the victim in this case was taken to hospital in a critical condition, was in and out of consciousness, has not been spoken to by police, so the nature of the altercation and the reasoning behind it, until we speak to that victim, who at the moment is in surgery at the PA (Hospital), we can’t ascertain what this incident was started by or what the relationship between the two gentlemen involved was,” he said.
Several nearby residents gathered around the scene as Acacia Ridge locals came to terms with the second alleged stabbing in the suburb within a week.
Gregory Street was completely closed off by police after declaring a crime scene.
Insp Hahne said police were treating it as a stand-alone incident.
“Police are confident there is no further threat to the community,” he said.
“My message to the people of Acacia Ridge and broader to Brisbane, is that there is no further threat to the community, we are treating this as a stand-alone altercation.”
One resident, who just moved to Gregory Street, said they could hear the incident from a home.
“We were inside just chilling and cleaning up in the kitchen and then we heard screaming,” the resident said.
“I walked into the room to talk to someone and said ‘can you hear the screaming’ and she said yes it sounds like something is going on out there.
“We stopped for a second then heard more (screams) so I come outside and then seen him on the ground so I ran there and there was a chick helping him and trying to stop the bleeding and him from freaking out.”
The resident said he didn’t know the man he saw on the ground.
“It’s freaky,” he said.
“We just moved here.”

The spokesman said there were no impacts on the school or student pick up.
