Mystery surrounds the fatal stabbing of a 22-year-old Acacia Ridge man, who was allegedly murdered by someone he knew at an Acacia Ridge park on the weekend.
Emmanuel Saki, 30, faced Richlands Magistrates Court on Monday charged with the murder of Bosco Minyurano, 22.
Police allege Saki stabbed Mr Minyurano in Mortimer Road Park just after midnight on Mother’s Day.
Mr Minyurano, of Acacia Ridge, was declared dead at the park and Saki was arrested later that day.
Police allege the two men were known to each other.
Mr Minyurano’s loved ones have since shared photos of their much-loved brother, uncle and friend as they continue to search for answers.
The 22-year-old was previously named in AFL Queensland’s 2016 Queensland All Nations Team.
Bosco’s older brother Lambert Minyurano told The Courier-Mail that every Mother’s Day will now be tarnished by the 22-year-old’s alleged murder.
Mr Minyurano said he was “dumbfounded” by his brother’s stabbing.
He said Bosco had visited his Acacia Ridge home on Saturday, where they had a brief conversation about their plans for the weekend.
“Bosco said he had been ‘chilling at home, kicking back’ … it was a brief discussion then I went back inside to see my daughter,” he said.
“That was the last time we spoke.
“We have lived in this community for an awful long time now … I’m dumbfounded.
“(Bosco) was just a lovely person … for (his alleged murder) to have happened just like that I’m gobsmacked.
“And for it to happen on Mother’s Day is just devastating … now every Mother’s Day will be an awful day.”
Mr Minyurano said their mother had been “coping” with the support of the community.
“But there are days where we are going to feel lonely and think to ourselves ‘how did this happen?’,” he said.
Mr Saki, born in Khartoum, Sudan, was remanded in custody and his matter will next be mentioned in Richlands Magistrates Court on August 19.
A brief of evidence was ordered by June 17 and Saki must enter a plea at the next court date.
A GoFundMe has been launched on behalf of the 22-year-old’s family.
“Bosco leaves behind his mother, brothers and his cherished childhood friends,” the fundraiser read.
“Bosco was a cherished individual, beloved by all who knew him. He was a diligent and determined soul, striving to create a beautiful life for himself and his family.
“His kindness and happiness touched everyone he encountered, and his infectious dancing could brighten up any room.”
Niakwer Majak, who organised the fundraiser, said Mr Minyurano was “always ready to lend a helping hand, deeply valuing his family and friends”.
“He will be forever remembered by his parents, siblings, extended family, friends, and most importantly, his mother and brothers,” she wrote.
“The shock and heartbreak of his loss on Mother’s Day is immeasurable.
“As we navigate this profound loss ... we also embark on a new journey of support for Bosco’s family.
“We deeply appreciate your thoughts, prayers, and donations as we adjust to life without our beloved son, uncle and friend.”
