Police say they found the homemade weapon, consisting of a metal ball with large sharpened spikes attached to a chain, at the South Murwillumbah home of a 59-year-old member of the outlaw motorcycle gang on Saturday.

Police also found knuckledusters at the house where they were serving a firearm prohibition notice.

The man was arrested and taken to Tweed Heads Police Station and charged with two counts of possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit, and manufacture prohibited weapon without a permit.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Tweed Heads Local Court on Monday 22 August 2022.

He was one of dozens of people arrested in a two-week border blitz on bikies involving the Queensland and NSW police, the Australian Federal Police, NSW Crime Commision, and Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission.

The joint agency operation led to the seizure of more than $4.5 million worth of drugs including ice, cocaine and cannabis, more than $165,000 in cash, seven guns and luxury vehicles and watches.

During the raids, police said they uncovered a Mongols bikie lair hidden in an underground bunker at a Bilambil Heights property near Tweed Heads.
