A teenager has been charged after a series of robberies and attempted robberies in Brisbane’s south last month.
It is alleged the 14-year-old Acacia Ridge teen created a fake dating profile on a LGBTIQ+ dating app and arranged to meet with victims on six different occasions and would demand money be transferred.
Police have charged him with eight counts of fraud, four counts each of attempted robbery and obtaining or dealing with identification information, and one count each of robbery, wilful damage, and contravening order about information necessary to access information stored electronically.
The teenager allegedly targeted these persons with the intent to commit fraud and robbery for financial gain.
Investigations remain ongoing and police are urging anyone with information to come forward, as well as encouraging online users to be aware of cyber-safety.
He is expected to appear before Richlands Children’s Court on September 19.
