Teen accused of murdering Angus Beaumont allegedly involved in home invasion while on bail

The parents of a 15-year-old who was allegedly stabbed by two teens while walking home with his friends say it feels like a “punch in the chest” to have been told one of those teens has allegedly been involved in a violent home invasion while on bail.

Two teen boys, 14, charged over stabbing death of boy, 15

The parents of Angus Beaumont said it felt like a “punch in the chest” when they were told one of the teenagers charged with murdering their son had allegedly been involved in a violent home invasion while on bail.

Next month will mark two years since Michelle Liddle and Ben Beaumont’s son Angus, 15, was allegedly stabbed to death by two 14-year-olds while walking home with friends in Redcliffe.

One of the boys, now aged 16, had been granted bail but is back behind bars after allegedly breaking into a Redcliffe property with another boy and threatening the homeowners with a knife and hammer.

Ms Liddle said everyday people were paying the price for the justice system’s soft approach on youth offenders.

“It’s frustrating, it’s just like a punch in the chest,” Ms Liddle said.

“You feel like your child has no value yet every care and concern is thrown at the kids on this end of the scale.

“Everyday people are paying the price for them not getting this right.”

Queensland Police said two boys went armed with a knife and hammer to a property in Redcliffe about 1.30pm on Saturday when they were confronted by a 49-year-old woman and 18-year-old man.

During the violent offence the woman was allegedly struck on the hand with the hammer before the teenagers fled the scene empty-handed.

The 16-year-old has been charged with one count each of trespass, enter with intent by break, wilful damage, possess knife in a public place, assault occasioning bodily harm, and two counts of threatening violence.

He was denied police bail and has appeared before the Redcliffe Children’s Court where he has been remanded in custody.

Ms Liddle said in the two years since Angus’s death, her family had found it “hard to look ahead”.

“The second year is harder in some ways because more the reality is hitting you and you’re realising too what you’re up against,” she said.

“You’re up against a system that is refusing to change and implement tougher sentencing and early intervention …

“The courts need to start backing families and backing their rights.”
