A Brisbane resident whose home of 38 years was extensively damaged by a stolen car has walked through the rubble to find the vehicle had gone so far into his property, it had sent bricks flying into his kitchen.

Detectives are yet to catch four men who crashed the allegedly stolen Lexus into the Sunnybank Hills home about 11.30pm on Monday, dragging a 17-year-old girl from the car and leaving her with critical injuries as they fled.

The suspects were then spotted at a service station in Coopers Plains hours later, allegedly stealing cigarettes before abandoning a stolen Audi.

Police said the teenage girl – who had significant facial injuries – remained in a critical condition in Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Homeowner Peter Sligar was staying at his 92-year-old mother’s place in Toowong when the crash happened, leaving left his double-brick home on the verge of collapse.

“I’m just glad I wasn’t sitting in the lounge room at the time; I would have been dead,” he said.

Mr Sligar said he had been able to walk through his property yesterday and assess the damage after structural engineers erected more supports and a temporary wall.

He found bricks had been thrown from the living room at the front of the house, to the kitchen at the back.

“(The car) has smashed so far into the lounge room, bricks went into the kitchen and broke the stove and microwave… the whole back of the fridge was peppered with bricks,” he said.

“And the dust, the dust is everywhere.

“It looks like it has been 100 years with no one in there.”

Along with damaging his television, sofa, and kitchen appliances, Mr Sligar said the car had shattered crockery and left a colonial dining table and chairs “broken completely”.

Fortunately Mr Sligar’s house was insured and he expected the work would be completed in six to nine months.

Neighbours told The Courier-Mail they had heard a “big bang” on the evening of the crash.

Jesse Taylor lived next door and found the teenager lying unconscious at the scene.

He phoned triple-0 and stayed with her until paramedics arrived 10 minutes later.

“It felt like a long time,” he said.

“I thought that girl was going to die.”

Mr Taylor said the men in the car appeared to be in their mid-20s.

Police allege the men fled in a Audi that was travelling with the Lexus and had been stolen from Newmarket on February 6.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating and anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
