A luxury getaway car used by a group of men after they allegedly ploughed a stolen Lexus into a house on Brisbane’s southside has been caught on camera at the scene of a break and enter hours after the crash.

Detectives have released vision of a black Audi that was allegedly used by four men to escape after they crashed a stolen Lexus into a house on Gowan Road at Sunnybank Hills about 11.30pm Monday night.
A 17-year-old girl – who police said was in the Lexus – was found lying unconscious near the house and was taken to Woolloongabba’s Princess Alexandra Hospital with significant facial injuries.

Witnesses said they performed CPR on the teen for 10 minutes before rescue crews arrived.

She was only formally identified when her family contacted the hospital, asking if it was her.

The Audi can be seen in closed circuit television (CCTV) pulling up to a service station at Coopers Plains at 4am.

Two men forced their way into the business and appear to steal cigarettes and the cash register.

Queensland Police said the Audi – that was allegedly stolen from Newmarket on February 6 – was found abandoned in Inala.

Police said the stolen Lexus veered off Hellawell Rd in Sunnybank Hills about 11.30pm Monday, hitting the house after crossing the intersection with Gowan Rd.

Nobody was home at the time of the crash.

It is alleged the Lexus was stolen during a burglary at Kuraby and has since been involved in a string of offences across Logan and South Brisbane.

Roofer Jesse Taylor lives next door and was asleep with his partner and baby when he heard a “big bang” and rushed to the scene.

“I just heard a big bang and thought thunder had hit next door or something and I just ran next door,” he said.

“Then the car was taking off with the guys in it, they were screaming ‘my baby’ and they dragged this girl out and I called an ambulance. I thought she was close to dead, she was not good at all.”

Police said four men fled the scene in the Audi, which was travelling with the stolen Lexus.

Mr Taylor called Triple-0 and stayed with the girl until paramedics arrived 10 minutes later.

“It felt like a long time,” he said.

“I thought that girl was going to die. I still don’t know what condition she is in now.”

The teenager remains in a critical condition at the PA Hospital.
Mr Taylor said the men in the car appeared to be in their mid 20s.

He said the car “was a mess” and had “every airbag going off” as it left the scene and drove south on Gowan Rd.

Mr Taylor said the experience had left his partner “traumatised” and he was exhausted.

The owner of the property, Peter Sligar, was staying at his 92-year-old mother’s place in Toowong when the crash happened.

He arrived about 6am to assess the damage, finding the car had gone straight through his front garden and into his lounge room, leaving the double-brick house on the verge of collapse.

Mr Sligar, 69, said his bedroom was directly above the loungeroom and his old cassettes, records and TV had been destroyed.

He said he woke to a phone call from police just after midnight.

“It’s disheartening, I’ve been here 38 years.”

“Just lucky I wasn’t here I guess,” Mr Sligar said.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating and anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
