A Warwick man who plead guilty to sexually assaulting a young fast food employee at her workplace has been sentenced for his sickening act.

A Warwick fast food worker was left “shocked” following a disturbing sexual assault by a man while she was working, a court has heard.

Delivery driver Stanley Wayne Unold, arrived at a Warwick restaurant on January 2, 2024, when he assaulted the teenager.

“The girl was a casual employee at the restaurant, and had been working in front of house service when Unold arrived to deliver milk,” police prosecutor Sergeant Steve de Lissa said.

Sgt de Lissa said the man had “used an open hand to slap the victim’s bottom,” an act which was snapped on CCTV and hastily reported to the restaurant manager.

A month later, it was reported to police, the prosecution detailed.

The former boilermaker’s defence lawyer, Phil Crook, told the court the 53-year-old had a strong work history, despite having learning difficulties.

“He has some difficulty with some issues of dyslexia and autism

The man lost his job over the offending.

“It’s still a sexual assault which could mean serving time in prison,” magistrate Janice Crawford said.

Unold pleaded guilty to the new charge of indecent assault, after the original charge of indecent treatment was dropped, on June 20 in Warwick Magistrates Court.

“I know the charge has been downgraded but the offending has not changed- a young woman was at work and was slapped on the bottom without reason,” she said.

The magistrate labelled the offending as “serious” and noted the man had offending on his history from more than 20 years ago, but wouldn’t pay any mind to it as he had been an “upstanding member of the community since”.

“This was rather spontaneous on your part and not planned, but the young lady was very shocked and reported it straight away.”

The man was sentenced to six months imprisonment, suspended for 12 months.

Convictions were recorded.
