Two alleged Comanchero bikies and an alleged associate have been arrested and charged with trafficking drugs in Brisbane for over a year – during which one of the accused allegedly tortured a man in a gang-related home invasion.
Alleged Comanchero members Joshua John Lucey and Mark Adrian Mitchell, along with alleged associate Dustin Maugatai, faced Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday.
The three men were each arrested yesterday and charged with trafficking dangerous drugs in the Brisbane area since February 1, 2024.
Lucey, 39, and Mitchell, 46, are both accused of recruiting another person into the Comanchero outlaw motorcycle gang since that same date.
Mitchell is further alleged to have tortured, grievously injured, and deprived a man of his liberty at a Pallara address last July, after allegedly breaking into his home with another alleged bikie gang member.
Court documents reveal how Mitchell was arrested at his Upper Caboolture address on Thursday by officers of the Acacia Ridge Criminal Investigative Unit.
Lucey and Maugatai were also arrested yesterday at addresses in Mount Cotton and Capalaba respectively by officers from Taskforce Maxima – which investigates criminal offences associated with Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs.
None of the three men made an appearance in person at their Brisbane Magistrates Court mentions on Friday.
Mitchell and Lucey were both represented by defence lawyer Kris Jahnke, who adjourned their matters for a bail application on February 11 and 21 respectively.
Maugatai, 21, was represented by solicitors from KLM Lawyers, and his matter was adjourned to February 21 for a bail application.
Lucey and Mitchell are both charged with trafficking dangerous drugs (serious organised crime), recruiting a person to become a participant in a criminal organisation, and possessing property (Australian currency) suspected of being the proceeds of a drug offence.
Lucey is also charged with breaching a no contact condition in a bail undertaking he entered into on April 6, 2023.
Mitchell is facing additional charges of enter dwelling with intent by break in company, grievous bodily harm (serious organised crime), torture (serious organised crime), deprivation of liberty, possessing dangerous drugs (meth), possessing a pipe, and contravening an order about information necessary to access information stored electronically.
Maugatai is charged with trafficking dangerous drugs (serious organised crime), public nuisance at or in the vicinity of a licensed premises on January 4, and failing to appear in accordance with an undertaking on January 21.
All three men were remanded in custody and will appear via video at their bail applications.
