Police are investigating a road rage incident in which a frozen drink was thrown at a vehicle before a driver was left with facial injuries after an assault.
Initial investigations indicate about 1.30pm on Friday, April 14, a blue 2004 Mini Cooper S was travelling along Saltwater Creek Road when a small white sedan began tailgating.
A male passenger threw a frozen drink at the Mini Cooper as the white car continued to drive dangerously.
When the Mini Cooper stopped at a set of traffic lights on the corner of Lennox and Sussex streets, the passenger has exited his vehicle and a verbal altercation occurred.
The Mini Cooper then stopped at the intersection of Kent and Lennox streets when the same man, armed with an implement, has approached on foot.
The man leant through the front passenger side window, assaulting the driver, before returning to the white vehicle and driving towards Kent Street.
A 50-year-old Maryborough man, who was driving the blue 2004 Mini Cooper S, received facial injuries.
Police are appealing to witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam vision, including the moments leading up to the assault, to come forward.
