Police have arrested a man who was caught driving the wrong way like a “mad man” on one of Brisbane’s busiest motorways.
About 11am on Saturday, police started receiving dozens of calls about an orange Holden ute driving south in the northbound lanes of the M1 near Yatala.
Dashcam footage shows other cars having to move out of the way of the oncoming ute driving in the wrong direction with the headlights on.
A witness travelling on the motorway said the driver was “speeding like a mad man” and “cutting across traffic and driving in front of cars”.
Police managed to intercept the man at Pimpama – more than 10km from where he was first spotted – and he was taken into custody.
Investigations are still ongoing and no one was injured in the ordeal.
