An elderly woman has died and a teenager is fighting for life following a two-vehicle crash west of Brisbane on Saturday.
Emergency services, including a rescue helicopter, responded to a crash involving a red Holden Commodore and a red Honda Jazz along Karrabin Rosewood Road and Stirling Road at Thagoona, 60km west of Brisbane, at about 4.30pm.
The driver of the Honda Jazz, a 78-year-old woman, died at the scene.
The driver of the Holden Commodore, a 19-year-old woman, was flown to Princess Alexandra Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman earlier said a rescue helicopter landed at the scene with two female patients treated and that the younger woman was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with life-threatening head and leg injuries.
A Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman on Saturday said no extractions were needed, with one crew on the scene assisting to make the area safe.
A Queensland Police spokeswoman at the time said traffic diversions were in place from Karrabin Rosewood Road and Yarrow Road.
Police are appealing to witnesses, or anyone with relevant vision, to come forward, with investigations into the cause of the crash continuing.
