Two people have been injured, including a five-month-old baby, when two people on e-scooters allegedly pulled up alongside a car and discharged a fire extinguisher into it on the Sunshine Coast.

Police said initial information suggests two unknown offenders were riding e-scooters when they approached a silver Suzuki Vitara on High St, near Sippy Downs Drive, at Sippy Downs about 7.50pm Sunday.

“The two offenders have ridden up beside the Suzuki and discharged a fire extinguisher into the vehicle before fleeing,” police said in a statement.

“The occupants of the vehicle, the 29-year-old male driver and 5-month-old child passenger sustained minor injuries as a result of the discharge.”

A fire extinguisher was later found nearby on Stringybark Rd.

Police have appealed for anyone who was in the area between 7.30pm and 8.20pm Sunday, who may have relevant information, CCTV or dashcam vision to contact them.
