A Queensland police officer has been suspended and is under criminal investigation after allegedly escorting his daughter through the New South Wales border checkpoint.

The Courier Mail understands Brisbane-based Senior Constable Robert Eickenloff, 56, was on shift on September 15 when he allegedly drove down to the Gold Coast to help his daughter Maddie, who did not have a valid pass, cross the state line on Wednesday.

Miss Eickenloff, who was working in the ACT, had driven to northern NSW where she was met by her father who helped her across the border.

Other police officers assigned to the border allegedly became suspicious and raised the alarm, prompting an investigation.

Asked on Wednesday if she was concerned about the reports, Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said: “Of course it’s concerning, we want everyone to do the right thing”.

Miss Eickenloff, a ski instructor at Thredbo Resort, arrived just before her 21st birthday, which is on September 22.

Police said Ms Eickenloff was fined $4135 after she allegedly entered Queensland in breach of the Chief Health Officer’s Border Direction on September 15.

“The woman is currently in hotel quarantine,” a spokesman said.

According to her LinkedIn profile, Miss Eickenloff graduated from the University of Queensland earlier this year.

She worked as a barista in Brisbane before starting work at Thredbo in June.

She has also worked as a talent acquisition manager for a recruitment and business advisory firm based in Brisbane.

Police reviewed CCTV footage and later raided Sen Const Eickenloff’s house as part of their investigation.

Miss Eickenloff was placed, and remains in, hotel quarantine.

Officers from the QPS Ethical Standards Command are investigating.

A Queensland Police spokesman confirmed the matter was under investigation.

“A male senior constable has been suspended from official duties with the Queensland Police

Service while Ethical Standards Command investigate allegations relating to on-duty border

enforcement,” he said.

“As the matter remains the subject of ongoing investigations, the QPS is unable to provide further information.”
