Post-mortem confirms body found on north Qld property is missing woman Rene Latimore
Forensic tests have confirmed the body discovered on a property near Mackay is that of missing woman Rene Latimore.
A body found on a rural property south of Mackay is that of missing woman Rene Latimore, a post-mortem examination has confirmed.
Detectives launched a homicide investigation after a woman’s body was found during a search of a rural Ilbilbie property on Sunday afternoon.
Police had been searching for Ms Latimore, 31, who was last seen on August 9 at the property she shares with her father, stepmother and 14-year-old son.
Queensland Police confirmed on Thursday that forensic tests identified Ms Latimore as the deceased.
Ms Latimore was reported missing from the Koumala area on August 18.
Mackay Detective Inspector Tom Armitt said it appeared the body had been on the property for “quite a period of time”.
It is understood that police are investigating whether restraints were placed around Ms Latimore’s ankles and other parts of her body before or after her death.
Investigations are ongoing and police continue to appeal to anyone who had interactions with Ms Latimore, either by phone, email or in person, to come forward.
“Additionally, for people who live in the Koumala and Ilbilbie areas, police are appealing for any information regarding the movement of vehicles or people in the area around the dates of August 8 to August 11,” a police statement read.
“Anyone with relevant information, CCTV or dash cam vision is urged to speak to police.”
