Two teenagers have been arrested after an allegedly stolen mercedes led officers on a wild chase between Brisbane and Ipswich this morning before it was abandoned in a shopping centre carpark.

A police spokeswoman said officers were tracking a stolen white Mercedes Benz before it entered Redbank Plaza shopping centre at Redbank southwest of Brisbane.

The Mercedes was filmed overtaking other cars at high-speed on the Ipswich Motorway before mounting a footpath to get around queued traffic.

Police allege the vehicle was linked to a number of property-related offences in Brisbane, Logan and Ipswich areas since it was stolen from Balmoral, in Brisbane’s inner east, overnight on Friday.

The teenagers, aged 16 and 18, are believed to have livestreaming their alleged escapades.

After leaving the Ipswich Motorway the car manoeuvred through backstreets before entering the shopping centre car park.

It is understood the car had been using tunnels around Brisbane in an attempt to avoid detection earlier on Tuesday morning.
