Police investigating claims of shots fired in Hervey Bay

New details have emerged as the investigation continues into claims shots were fired in a quiet Hervey Bay street.

Investigations are continuing into claims shots were fired in a quiet Hervey Bay suburb on Wednesday morning.

Police responded to reports of shots being fired about 9.30am near Denman Camp Rd, Detective Senior Constable Glen Dehnert said.

The investigation was still in its early stages, he said, but one person had made a report of an incident involving a firearm.

Det Snr Const Dehnert said early information suggested a car had pulled alongside another vehicle and a firearm had been seen, with shots then being fired.

A police spokeswoman said information now suggested the incident had happened at Bianca Court in Torquay.

There were no injuries or property damage reported as a result of the incident, he said.

The possibility of it being a road rage incident was still under investigation, Det Snr Cnst Dehnert said.

It is understood police were patrolling the suburbs near Denman Camp Rd, including Scarness and Torquay, on Wednesday morning.
