A police officer was allegedly stalked for days before a man broke into his house and beat him with a crowbar, leaving the officer with significant head injuries.

Police allege Nathan Bryce Jensen, 47, repeatedly stalked the off-duty police officer before breaking into his home at Caboolture South just before midnight on April 5.

Mr Jensen, of Clear Mountain, allegedly sprayed the officer in the face with insecticide before beating him over the head with the crowbar.

He then allegedly attempted to steal the officer’s vehicle but was stopped by neighbours.

Police allege Mr Jensen fled the scene but was arrested a short time later.

The injured officer was taken in a serious condition to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital where he was treated for a significant head wound.

Police said the officer has since been released from hospital and was recovering well.

Mr Jensen has been charged with acts intended to maim, robbery, attempted stealing of a vehicle, unlawful stalking, break and enter and administering poison with intent to harm.

He faced Caboolture Magistrates Court this week and was remanded in custody until his matter is next heard on May 5.
