Tributes are flowing for a woman killed in a high-speed stolen motorbike crash on the Gold Coast.

Krystal Evans, 35, from Upper Coomera, died alongside 36-year-old Oxenford man Tony Charlwood after police tried to intercept the bike on Discovery Dr at Helensvale about 1.30am on Saturday.

The lone officer who attempted the interception found the bike crashed into a pole soon after at the corner of Helensvale Rd and Siganto Rd, with Ms Evans and her male companion dead.

Coast man Joshua Brown, who said he was an “old friend” of Ms Evans, took to Facebook to share his grief.

“Taken too soon,” he wrote.

“Rest in peace beautiful … live every day like it’s your last, everyone’s life too short.”

Another friend, Tanari Shari Paulson, posted: “RIP Krystal Evans wtf I in shock … you was a beautiful soul hey aww I can’t believe it fly high babe.”

It’s believed a black ute driven by the 50-year-old Elanora men pulled out in front of the motorbike being ridden by Charlwood as he tried to flee police.

Supt Wildman said police had seized the ute for forensic examination.

Charlwood was last year sentenced to two-and-half-years’ jail after pleading guilty to a string of charges over a drug deal in which he menaced a man with a steak knife.

He was released on immediate parole.

Mr Charlwood’s friend, Emma Jones-Goss, made a heartfelt Facebook post about the tragedy.

“No matter the judgement of the community, and no matter if what you did was wrong, you and Krystal didn’t deserve to lose your lives,” she wrote.

“Tony Charlwood you were a good guy, despite what anyone else thinks.

“The people that knew you, know this tragedy doesn’t define the human you were. You were loved by your family and your friends. You will always be loved, and dearly missed.“I’m glad to have known you, and have memories with you. Just wish I wasn’t so busy the last few weeks and got to see you like you kept asking.

“I’m shocked and saddened. No matter what...you’ll always be in my heart, and I’ll keep our memories close to me.

“I really don’t know what to say... until we see each other again my friend. Love ya.”
