A woman who murdered her ex-partner the day after he got custody of their kids had previously made chilling threats to kill him if he ever took her children from her.
Sarah Mudge, who died on Thursday morning after dousing her ex Stanley Obi and his new partner in petrol before lighting a fire while they slept, wrote about the couple’s issues in an online mother’s group.
The Courier-Mail can also reveal Mr Obi heroically got one of his children - who was sleeping in the bed with him - to safety before the fire took hold and ultimately claimed his life.
His partner, who was also in the bed, escaped with minor injuries, while all other children in the home were unharmed.
Last August, around the time Mudge and Mr Obi took out private domestic violence orders against each other, the mum-of-four wrote in an online mother’s group of how she would kill Mr Obi if he ever “took the baby from me”.
“F... that, he did not try to do this, because it’s just not an option, I’d have killed him,” she wrote when detailing a lengthy story over a family dispute relating to one of the pair’s children.
On another post in the popular mum’s group, Mudge gave dramatic advice to another mother about cutting her children’s hair.
The other mother had asked for help navigating an issue with a family member who had made the request to give the child their first haircut.
Mudge responded with “you could add a PS: ‘cut her hair and I’ll cut your throat’.”
Mudge was also an active member of a sperm donor group and told members in a post that she wanted to have “as many babes as I can”.
In June last year, Mudge said she was looking for an “African, Polynesian or First nations sperm donor”.
“I’m a single mama by choice and am choosing to remain so until my children are grown,” Mudge wrote.
“I have 4 wonderful children, but my heart is not yet full.
“I also have an expiring uterus so I only have a few years to complete my family and I’d like to have as many babes as I can.”
While in a second post, Mudge wrote a lengthy description that detailed what she required from a sperm donor.
“I’m not too fussy apart from looking for someone who will produce similar looking children,” she said.
“And I’m looking for someone who is willing to AI (artificial insemination). I am not looking for someone who wants an ongoing relationship but I am willing to provide updates and allow you to follow our social media page.”
She also posted prolifically as a “mummy blogger” about her home schooling experiences.
Last August she wrote: “We’re taking a little break. Our family is going through something huge and we’re out preserving and recovering.”
By October, she was posting about whether she would be forced to send her children to school instead of teaching them at home.
Last night, at the scene, Detective Darren Ward said the forensic examination was complete.
“We are going to be closing down the crime scene now,” he said.
“It’s been handed over back to the insurance company... We’ll just be notifying the neighbours of the situation to date and heading off.”
Neighbours were left traumatised by the blaze after Mr Obi banged on their door yelling for them to call the police.
One neighbour told The Courier-Mail that when they went to pick up one of Mr Obi’s daughters, she was soaked in petrol.
“When I picked up the children, when I picked up the little one…she was soaking with petrol,” a man said.
“When I pulled her off my chest my whole t-shirt was soaking with petrol”.
