The son of Gold Coast-based Mongols outlaw motorcycle gang national president Nick “The Knife” Forbes has been hit with numerous drug-related charges as part of an operation resulting from the high-profile ANOM investigation.

The Courier-Mail can reveal alleged Mongols bikie Haydn Forbes, 26, was on Monday issued with a notice to appear in relation to five charges of supplying and one charge of trafficking methamphetamine.

He was expected to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on November 14.

Forbes Jr is the alleged vice-president of the Mongols West City chapter.

The 26-year-old’s charges follow the arrest of his father upon arrival in the NT for alleged drug trafficking.

Lawyer Michael Gatenby, who represents both Nick and Haydn Forbes, said both men would be defending the charges.

“We’re going to challenge the admissibility of the ANOM material and we’re in the process of drafting a subpoena to the Australian Federal Police to produce the operating system for the platform,” he said.

“There are a number of (legal) challenges to the ANOM platform happening in Sydney, Melbourne and WA and ours is likely to be on a similar basis.”

Nick Forbes was granted bail on October 21 after a magistrate noted he was more likely to have contact with other Mongols if remanded in custody.

Both men were investigated as part of Operation Cyro, which was formed to investigate the trafficking of dangerous drugs identified on the ANOM platform during Operation Ironside.

Operation Ironside caught hundreds of Australians accused of breaking the law – many allegedly dealing drugs and weapons, and some even allegedly involved in serious organised crime.
