A Proserpine woman who allegedly caused a crash that cost the life of a Whitsundays man has yet to enter a plea after a second appearance in court.
Lucy Caroline Jenkins, 43, was driving along Strathdickie Rd in Strathdickie near Airlie Beach on August 20 when she was involved in a serious crash.
Police had earlier alleged Ms Jenkins’ ute crossed onto the other side of the road and collided with Neale David Williams’ Nissan X-Trail.
Mr Williams died shortly after 6pm.
Ms Jenkins injured her spine in the crash and was flown to Townsville Hospital that night.
She was later charged for dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance, as well as driving while under the influence and possessing dangerous drugs.
The matter was mentioned for the second time in Proserpine Magistrates Court on Monday.
Potts Lawyers solicitor Danielle Hanson, who appeared as a friend of the court on the matter, told Magistrate Michelle Howard the dangerous driving causing death charge would have to be heard in front of a district court.
Ms Hanson added Ms Jenkins’ legal team was still waiting on a brief of evidence from prosecution and Ms Jenkins was not in a position to enter a plea at this point.
Prosecutor Lachlan Perry said a significant amount of time was needed to produce the brief due to the “complexity of the charge” and that it should be handed in by January 21 next year.
Magistrate Michelle Howard adjourned the matter to February 6 and enlarged Ms Jenkins’ bail.
