A house south of Brisbane has been destroyed by fire with one passer-by claiming to have seen “two kids running” away from the blaze.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services were called to the house on Logan Reserve Road about 7.20am with about seven crews there during the peak of the fire.
A low set house was well engulfed by 7.30am and took nearly an hour to be under control.
Crews remain on scene dampening it down and the fire investigation unit will arrive at the scene later in the day.
Passer-by Ken Warner said he was working in a yard nearby when he heard a loud noise.
“All I heard was a big bang up the hill, I saw fire then I saw two kids run down the hill but I couldn’t tell what they looked like,” he said.
“It just happened so fast, I didn’t think I just had to race and call the police and ambulance because I didn’t know if it was empty or not.”
Mr Warner said he saw a large fire when he looked outside
“It was huge. It was pretty big,” he said.
“It wasn’t at first but as soon as they got here it got worse so they got here at the right time.”
Mr Warner said it was concerning seeing kids run from the scene of the fire.
“It is terrible, everywhere you go. You have to lock your house up,” he said.
“I hope it changes soon.”
