Kym Cobby’s brother has told a court he made comments about getting a hit man on her husband about two years before she was killed.

Darryn Andrew Bradley Schultz took the stand via video link at Brisbane Supreme Court on Friday when he was cross-examined about his relationship with his sister.

He conceded the pair had their arguments over the years, but their final weekend together with family in October 2017 was “really good”.

Ms Cobby was found dead in her driveway the following month.

Her estranged husband Andrew Cobby, 59, has pleaded not guilty to murdering the mother-of-three.

Defence barrister Anthony Kimmins on Friday pressed Mr Schultz about a conversation he had with his sister over the Christmas period in 2015.

Mr Schultz agreed that on Wednesday he told crown prosecutor Philip McCarthy that he made comments to his sister about wanting to hire a hit man to get Mr Cobby.

“Maybe it was in anger,” Mr Schultz said via video link during cross examination.

“But probably it was like, ‘I’m surprised that no one has hired a hit man’.

“I don’t know if Kym misconstrued that.

“I was not going to hire a hit man myself.”

The court on Friday also heard recordings from a meeting between Mr and Ms Cobby and a group of investors in May 2016 who were demanding to know what Mr Cobby had done with $160,000 they said they gave him.

Ms Cobby can be heard in the recordings saying her husband wasn’t transparent with her about his finances and share trading activity.

“Show them your bank account, you won’t even show me,” Ms Cobby said.

“ … I know something is going on.

“It drives me insane.”

Hector Bonelli, who lived with Mr Cobby in a Gold Coast share house, told a jury on Friday that Ms Cobby organised the meeting shortly after learning the details of the investment arrangement with the group.

“Andrew was always asking us to lie to her, to tell her that we received our money back and that everything was fine,” Mr Bonelli said.

“Until one day we couldn’t lie any more and we told Kym that actually ‘I’m sorry Kym, we have to tell the truth. We never got our money back’.

“That was when she got really angry …”

Recordings of the meeting played to the court spanned more than 90 minutes and Ms Cobby can be heard telling her husband to return the money.

Mr Bonelli is heard demanding Mr Cobby log into his accounts and show them the money.

“You have been using our money to clear your s---,” Mr Bonelli proposes.

Mr Cobby replied, “In part.”

The group showed little anger towards Ms Cobby during the meeting which wrapped up with Mr Bonelli telling Mr Cobby he still loved him and was feeling better.

Justice Peter Callaghan said there was about another hour of recordings that would be played to the court on Monday when the prosecution was expected to conclude their evidence.

The matter was adjourned to Monday, November 8.
